The Suicide Commandos release their second album Friday — and given that it’s 39 years in the making, it’s got a particularly appropriate title: “Time Bomb.”
The pioneering Minneapolis punk rock trio — Osgood, bassist Steve Almaas and drummer Dave Ahl — formed in 1975 with a stripped-down, ferocious sound that updated the garage rock of the ’60s for a new generation. They opened the doors for the flood of local bands that followed, including the Replacements, Husker Du and the Suburbs. But their initial run lasted just four years.
